Model UN team continues tradition by earning 'Outstanding Delegation' for 12th time

Cal State San Bernardino's 2008 National Model United Nations team followed tradition by repeating as an Outstanding Delegation at the annual competition in New York in April. The recognition, the highest honor given to teams, gives CSUSB 12 such honors in the Model UN competition. This year, the team of 17 students represented the Republic of the Philippines.

Neil Simon's "Come Blow Your Horn" will be performed at Cal State San Bernardino's Palm Desert Campus May 9-11 in the university's Indian Wells Theater. Show times are Friday, May 9, at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 10, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, May 11, at 2 p.m.

TODAY: 2008 Arrowhead Distinguished Executive Officer to be honored

Cal State San Bernardino's College of Business and Public Administration will honor Dev A. GnanaDev as its 2008 Arrowhead Distinguished Executive Officer today, Friday, May 9, at the Ontario Convention Center. GnanaDev, who founded the New Beginnings - Gang Tattoo Removal Program for reformed gang members, is a graduate of the college's first "M.B.A. for Executives" program in 2001.

Professor receives award for teaching excellence

Tony Coulson, professor of information management at Cal State San Bernardino, has been named a recipient of the 2008 Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology. Coulson was among the 40 teaching faculty from across the United States and around the world honored by the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning for their innovative contributions to teaching and learning in higher education.
Tony Coulson, professor of information management at Cal State San Bernardino, has been named a recipient of the 2008 Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology.
 
Expert on chronic disease prevention to speak at CSUSB; advance reservations due today

Antronette (Toni) Yancey, a nationally recognized expert in chronic disease prevention and intervention, will be the guest speaker at a program presented by the Office of Research and Development and the Research Infrastructure in Minority Institutions Office at Cal State San Bernardino. Yancey will speak at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, at the Panorama Room of the university's Lower Commons.

A multi-million dollar estate gift will benefit the top college-bound students from the Inland Empire and beyond with full scholarships at Cal State San Bernardino. The contribution will be made through the John M. Pfau Family Scholarship Endowment, which has been established in honor of the university's founding president.

For Neal Dach, college was a welcome environment after four years in the Army, including combat as an ammunitions specialist in Iraq in 2003. But after putting his life on the line for his country, Dach's loyalty to the nation would have to be vetted again, this time to prove he was fit for a job as a $10-per-hour laboratory technician at Cal State San Bernardino. Dach opted not to sign a loyalty oath required for all state employees, including those in the California State University system.

Former Cal State San Bernardino pitcher Regina Farfan tossed five shutout innings and her Cal State Dominguez Hills teammates gave her an early cushion Thursday as the Toros beat the Coyotes 4-2 in second round play in the Division II West Region Tournament at Humboldt State. The Coyotes, making their first appearance in the playoffs, will play an elimination game at 11:30 a.m. today against Seattle University which lost to Cal State Stanislaus 4-0 but eliminated Monterey Bay 4-2. The article also appeared in the Inland Daily Bulletin.

The Sun First Malaysian in space to speak

It's not every day that "first" is used to describe someone going into space. Musazphar Shukor, the first Malaysian man in space, went up on the Soyuz TMA-11 mission in October. He will speak about his experience when he appears from 4 to 6 p.m. today,Thursday, May 8, in Room 10 of the Physical Sciences Building at Cal State San Bernardino.
