Walk and roll event to benefit scholarship fund

The inaugural Walk and Roll for Scholarships, hosted by the university's College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Development Council on Saturday, March 6, will feature a three-mile course on the Cal State San Bernardino campus. On-site registration begins at 8 a.m., and the event starts at 9 a.m.

 

The Student Health Center at Cal State San Bernardino, along with student Greek organizations and the Cross Cultural Center, will offer safe sex information, condoms and free testing the week of Feb. 8-11.

Fullerton Art Museum beginning in March will hold a series of exhibits, lectures, interactive workshops and performances that celebrate and investigate Wagner's "Ring" cycle.

Free income tax preparation is back at Cal State San Bernardino

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program returns to Cal State San Bernardino this year with free income tax preparation services for low-income and elderly taxpayers. Through the VITA program, CSUSB accounting students will also provide tax preparation services at seven other San Bernardino County locations. This year's program begins on Friday, Feb. 5, and runs through Saturday, April 10.

City officials plan job-training programs for former prisoners

The city of San Bernardino's high-risk parolees may soon be subject to additional oversight and receive job training and other assistance intended to prevent them from returning to prison. The new programs that could soon be enacted to deal with high-risk parolees are built around Day Reporting Centers. Cal State San Bernardino and the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation are on the brink of a $1.2 million deal to create such a facility in San Bernardino, said Carolyn Eggleston, director of the campus's Center for the Study of Correctional Education.

Cal State San Bernardino partners with U.S. Census Bureau

Stimulus dollars allow Cal State San Bernardino to restore class offerings that had been cut

Free rapid HIV/AIDS antibody tests at CSUSB

Arrowhead United Way is funding a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program site at Goodwill Industries Clearance Center in San Bernardino to help low- to moderate-income tax filers free of charge. VITA is a program sponsored by the federal Internal Revenue Service and state Franchise Tax Board. The tax assistance is a collaboration between Cal State San Bernardino, Arrowhead United Way and Goodwill Industries. Cal State is providing student volunteers who have been trained in tax preparation.
