The golf team from Cal State San Bernardino will compete in the NCAA Division II national golf tournament beginning today in Texas, but just getting there proved to be a challenge. It's the third straight season the Coyotes have reached the national tournament, a 72-hole event played at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston. Joe Baca Foundation hands out 36 scholarships

Cal State San Bernardino students Thembinkosi Noko and Cindy Allen are among the 36 area students who were honored at The Joe Baca Foundation Reception & Scholarship Awards event last week. Each student was presented a $1,000 scholarship. The foundation, named for the Rialto congressman, requires that each scholarship recipient complete a community service program so they develop a sense of responsibility and self-confidence. Pfau family gives $12M to CSUSB

John Pfau devoted his life to the new California State University campus for 20 years beginning in 1962. Now 90, Pfau has ensured that he will serve Cal State San Bernardino in perpetuity. A more than $12 million contribution - the second-largest private donation in the university's history - has been pledged by the John M. Former Cal State San Bernardino pitcher Regina Farfan tossed five shutout innings and her Cal State Dominguez Hills teammates gave her an early cushion Thursday as the Toros beat the Coyotes 4-2 in second round play in the Division II West Region Tournament at Humboldt State. The Coyotes, making their first appearance in the playoffs, will play an elimination game at 11:30 a.m. today against Seattle University which lost to Cal State Stanislaus 4-0 but eliminated Monterey Bay 4-2. Iraq war veteran refuses to sign oath

For Neal Dach, college was a welcome environment after four years in the Army, including combat as an ammunitions specialist in Iraq in 2003. But after putting his life on the line for his country, Dach's loyalty to the nation would have to be vetted again, this time to prove he was fit for a job as a $10-per-hour laboratory technician at Cal State San Bernardino. Dach opted not to sign a loyalty oath required for all state employees, including those in the California State University system.

Inland Purchasing Managers Index reports anemic growth

Activity at Inland factories remained pretty much unchanged last month as new orders and production picked up only slightly, according to a report released Monday by Cal State San Bernardino.
