The Coyotes enter Friday's four-team California Collegiate Athletic Association tournament at Turlock as the No. 2 seed, in a field with the defending conference champion (Sonoma State) and the defending national champion (Cal State Dominguez Hills).

Just as a pitcher needs good fielding and hitting; a quarterback needs good receivers, running backs and linemen; so actors need a good team behind them to succeed. So said Professor Kathy Ervin of Highland, who teaches acting and associated skills at Cal State San Bernardino as she talked to the Rotary Club of Highland on Monday night.

Priorities remain in focus

Nov. 1, 2009

The Sun

The newspaper posts online CSUSB President Albert Karnig's opinion piece, originally published in The Sun on Nov. 1. He wrote: "This fall, Cal State San Bernardino currently has 17,852 enrolled students, which is the most in the university's 44-year history. The enrollment indicates just how vital CSUSB has become to the communities we serve, as increasing numbers of students are making our campus their first choice for higher education. Despite the positive facets of our enrollment, however, the 2009-2010 academic year will be by far the most challenging we've faced, because we need to deal with a funding loss of $26 million - or roughly a staggering one-quarter of last year's state appropriation."
