Mike Stull, the director of Cal State San Bernardino's Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship, is quoted in a story of how a slow economy and scarcity of available jobs may be an encouraging time for people to satisfy their dreams of finally opening their own business. Entrepreneurs who prefer to operate their business how they see fit are not good matches for franchises. Franchisees who do not follow the franchiser's structure may find themselves struggling.
