Danny Murillo, co-founder of the Berkeley Underground Scholars, will be the guest speaker at the next Conversations on Race and Policing.

‘Breaking Barriers’ to be screened at next Conversations on Race and Policing

Danny Murillo, who is featured in the film and is a co-founder of the Underground Scholars at Berkeley, will also be on hand to discuss the documentary, which follows a group of students at UC Berkeley who face significant challenges as formerly incarcerated and system-impacted individuals pursuing higher education.

The sold-out event on March 29 featured the Inaugural Hispanic Coalition of Small Business Lifetime Achievement Award, which was given to Pepe Serna, one of the longest working actors in Hollywood.

The Office of Student Leadership and Engagement hosted the Social Justice Summit, featuring disability rights and inclusion activist Imani Barbarin, who gave the virtual keynote address.

Imani Barbarin, disability rights and inclusion activist, delivered the keynote address virtually at the annual Social Justice Summit. CSUSB students had the opportunity to attend live watch parties of the keynote at the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses, where they enjoyed a free lunch while listening to her powerful message.
