SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - In preparation for the anniversary of its bicentennial in May 2010, the Pfau Library will offer a series of lectures at Cal State San Bernardino involving city history, trivia and its individuals.

The first lecture, "San Bernardino's Bicentennial! May 20, 1810-May 20, 2010," will be today, Monday, Nov. 9, from noon-1 p.m., in the university's Pfau Library.

Presented by Rabbi Hillel Cohn, the chairman of San Bernardino's Bicentennial Committee, the lecture will be held in Room 4005 and is free to the public.

Cohn will share information and trivia about the city, such as how a contest in 1939 and a committee appointed by San Bernardino's mayor in 1959 confirmed that the city was founded on May 20, 1810. He'll also discuss the famous guest who visited San Bernardino in 1910 to celebrate its centennial, and what special events the city has planned to celebrate its bicentennial.

The Pfau Library is currently planning lectures for January, March, April and May, as part of the many events that will take place throughout San Bernardino over the next eight months.
