SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Groundbreaking for a new 2,566-square-foot nursing laboratory at Cal State San Bernardino took place at 9 a.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 12. A $1.2-million structure, the new lab will replicate treatment areas typically found in today's hospitals. It will feature technology used to "simulate scenarios student nurses may see in the real world," says B. Robert Carlson, dean of CSUSB's College of Natural Sciences. The addition of the new laboratory makes it possible for the university to admit more nursing students, Carlson says. But he adds that such a move depends upon funding for more faculty. The nursing lab will be built next to the Health and Physical Education Building on the campus's east side. It's scheduled for completion in late 2010. For more information, contact the university's Office of Public Affairs at (909) 537-5007 and visit the university's news site news.csusb.edu. |
