SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Cal State San Bernardino will hold an open house on today, Friday, Oct. 30, for community college and high school students interested in programs and courses offered by the university's Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The open house, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The orientation will be from 9-9:45 a.m. in HP 124 followed by sessions held on the third floor of Jack Brown Hall in rooms 356, 358, 359 and 360. Prospective college students will have the opportunity to meet with department faculty and students in a relaxed atmosphere with the opportunity to win prizes in computer-related competitions. During the open house, 11 faculty members from the department will make presentations about courses offered in the program. The topics include computer games and graphics, robotics, mathematical games with a computer science twist, programming languages and careers in computer science and engineering. Along with the presentations, officials from the university's Office of Admissions and Student Recruitment and the Computer Science and Engineering Student Club will make presentations. Expected to attend are students, teachers and counselors from the following high schools and community colleges: AB Miller High School, Fontana; Banning High School, Banning; Cajon High School, Aquinas High School and San Bernardino High School, of San Bernardino; Sherman Indian High School, Riverside; and Riverside Community College, Riverside.
