SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.- San Bernardino Mayor Patrick J. Morris will speak to Cal State San Bernardino students on Tuesday, Oct. 20, outlining his accomplishments during his tenure and his plans for the city's future. Morris' talk followed by a question-and-answer period will be in the university's Upper Commons from 3-4:30 p.m. The event is free for all CSUSB students, faculty and staff and is sponsored by the CSUSB Public Administration Organization and Social Network and former state Sen. Russ Bogh. Morris has been mayor of San Bernardino since March of 2006. During his tenure, the crime rate has dropped to its lowest point in 20 years. He has also added 40 more officers to the San Bernardino Police Department and initiated an $800 million expansion of Interstate 215 through downtown San Bernardino. Morris, who is running for re-election, has also announced plans to renovate downtown, particularly the civic center and courthouse. He also will be talking about the internships in the city of San Bernardino to political science majors.
