SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The Princeton Review has once again recognized Cal State San Bernardino as having one of the nation's outstanding business schools. The education services company features CSUSB in the 2010 edition of its book, "The Best 301 Business Schools," which went on sale Oct. 6. "It is especially meaningful to be listed in the top 301 by the Princeton Review ranking system, because it uses more than numeric data provided by our M.B.A. program," said Karen Dill Bowerman, dean of CSUSB's College of Business and Public Administration. "The Princeton Review also conducts a candid interview of about 65 of our M.B.A. students with an 80-question survey on their experience here at CSUSB. "It is gratifying to see that what students report is consistent with our mission of being a student-centered learning community," Bowerman said. "Value and quality in education, given rising fees everywhere, are more important than ever to students and their families. Another measure of quality as a school accredited by the only worldwide business accrediting body, is that there are only 570 institutions holding AACSB business accreditation out of about 12,000 business schools worldwide." "The Best 301 Business Schools: 2010 Edition" has two-page profiles of the schools with write-ups on their academics, student life and admissions, plus ratings for their academics, selectivity and career placement services. It includes statistical information and opinions of students at the best AACSB-accredited M.B.A. programs in the country. The Princeton Review profile for CSUSB states that the university's College of Business and Public Administration offers "a good mix of practical and theoretical business applications and concepts" in a program that delivers in a variety of disciplines, all "at a very good price." According to students who were surveyed, the program is the perfect size, "small enough that you can build relationships with the professors and administration, but also big enough to give students some independence and freedom to do things on their own." Students are quoted throughout the profile, providing their first-hand experiences with Cal State San Bernardino's business programs. In addition, the Princeton Review lists topics in which CSUSB students most agree, such as they are "happy students" and they appreciate the "smart" classrooms on campus. Students also agreed that they received solid preparation in accounting and developed their presentation, quantitative and computer skills. The Princeton Review's 80-question survey for the book asked students about themselves, their career plans, and their schools' academics, student body and campus life. "We are pleased to recommend California State University, San Bernardino to readers of our book and users of our site, PrincetonReview.com, as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an M.B.A., said Robert Franek, Princeton Review senior VP-Publishing. "We chose the 301 business schools in this book based on our opinion of their academic programs and offerings, as well as our review of institutional data we collect from the schools. We also strongly consider the candid opinions of students attending the schools who rate and report on their campus experiences at their schools on our survey for the book." "The Best 301 Business Schools: 2010 Edition" also has advice on applying to business schools and funding the degree. It is one of 165 Princeton Review books published by Random House. The line includes annual guides to the best law schools and medical schools, plus guides to grad school admission exams and application essays. The Princeton Review is also known for its guides to colleges and to standardized tests, its test-prep courses, tutoring and other education services.
