THIS IS ONLY A DRILL

9:30 a.m. update:
A powerful earthquake that rocked Southern California has caused damage to buildings at Cal State San Bernardino today, Thursday, Oct. 15, at 9 a.m.

Faculty, staff and students who are currently on campus have been moved to pre-designated safe zones as injuries and damages are assessed. Others are evacuating campus. The university is not permitting non-emergency personnel onto the campus. However, a pick-up zone has been established along Northpark Blvd. along the perimeter of the campus.

The full extent of injuries and damages at the university are not available as of 9:30 a.m. Early reports show that there have been injuries. Triage centers have been established throughout the university to assist the injured. University dining services is providing food for those who remain on campus.

Several buildings have been heavily damaged. University officials are searching buildings for people who may be trapped.

The quake measured 7.8 on the Richter Scale and was centered in the Salton Sea area along the southern section of the San Andreas Fault.
