SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Writer, editor, publisher and Cal State San Bernardino librarian Michael Burgess will expound upon his "intense" writing career today, Thursday, Oct. 15, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The event is free to the public. He will be speaking in the Pfau Library in Room 4005. While the life of an author may seem boring and dull to many, and at best, fun and relaxing to many more, Burgess insists that life as a professional writer is actually exciting, scary, full of the unexpected, and is life lived on the edge. Burgess, whose pen name is Robert Reginald, has been a writer, editor and publisher since 1968. He's written and published 113 books and 13,000 short articles. He has also edited 1,500 volumes for six different publishers, and been a librarian at CSUSB since 1970. During the past 40-plus years, Burgess has been living out his dream to make a living with the written word. From the time he was very young, he knew he wanted to be an author, to see the world and write about it. Fortunately for him, he's fulfilled his dream to the letter. He was actually born in Japan, and has traveled the world over, from as near as the 50 U.S. states to as far away as Turkey. One could say that he is a renaissance man in every sense of the word.
