Bestselling author, traffic expert Tom Vanderbilt to give presentation at Cal State San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Tom Vanderbilt, author of the bestselling book "Traffic: Why We Drive the Way We Do (And What It Says About Us)," will talk about the mysteries and psychology behind driving today, Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Cal State San Bernardino.

Vanderbilt, whose presentation is called, "Objects in the Mirror are More Complicated Than They Appear," is the first in a series of speakers sponsored by the university's William and Barbara Leonard Transportation Center. The event is free and open to the public. Parking on campus is $5.

Vanderbilt will give his presentation twice and will sign copies of his book in the Santos Manuel Student Union. The first lecture will be from noon to 2 p.m. in the union Fourplex 215-218. The second presentation will be from 6-8 p.m. in the Events Center B and C of the union and will offer refreshments.

The event is for anyone interested in road rage, why highways get congested and transportation issues.

Founded in 2006, the William and Barbara Leonard Transportation Center works to discover and implement transportation solutions for the expanding Inland Empire. CSUSB students learn transportation policy and management practices via multidisciplinary course work and research programs. The center focuses on research, education and transfer of the latest technology and methods to public and private users of regional transportation systems.
