Coyotes, Bulldogs host softball clinic

REDLANDS, Calif. -- Cal State San Bernardino and University of Redlands are combining their coaching and player talents on Saturday, Oct. 24, to host a softball clinic for players eight to 18 at the University of Redlands softball field.

The co-directors of the clinic are Coyotes Head Coach Tacy Duncan and Bulldogs Head Coach Laurie Nevarez.

The combined staff will provide instruction in fielding, hitting, throwing, base running as well as drills for hitting and defense, base-running pointers. EM Speed and Power will run conditioning circuits.

The session will last from 8:30 a.m. to 12;30 p.m.

Clinic cost is $60 per person. Reservations can be made by calling Redlands assistant coach Sherina Galvan at (909) 748-8436.

Space is limited to the first 100 to registrer. Payment is due at registration on the morning of the clinic. Checks can be made payable to University of Redlands Softball Development.

All registrants must sign a waiver prior to participating.

As an extra benefit, for $10, coaches and parents can follow the clinic directors through each station, ask questions and hear first-hand skill instruction. A camp t-shirt is available for $10.

Duncan is starting her fifth season as the head coach at CSUSB. She was the 2008 CCAA conference coach of the year and led her team to its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II tournament in 2008.

Nevarez, a former UCLA player and all-Pac-10 second baseman, has led the Bulldogs to five straight SCIAC conference titles with an .843 winning percentage.
