Award-winning children's author and former CSUSB professor to return for reading

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Award-winning children's author and former Cal State San Bernardino professor Alexandria LaFaye will be returning to campus today, Wednesday, Oct. 7, to read to kids.

LaFaye, who was a creative writing and children's literature instructor at CSUSB from 2000-2006, will be reading and signing copies of her new book, "Water Steps," and will also be reading from two of her other books, "Stella Stands Alone" and "The Keening."

LaFaye's reading will be from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in room 4005 of the Pfau Library.

LaFaye's books are written for kids ages 8 and older, and her reading is free to the public. The author will have copies of "Water Steps" to sell and autograph.

Now living in Arkansas, LaFaye is a children's literature and creative writing instructor at Hollins and Hamline universities. She has written several youth novels, including "Strength of Saints," "Nissa's Place," "The Year of the Sawdust Man," and "Worth." She has won numerous awards, including the Scott O' Dell Award for Best Historical Fiction novel for "Worth" in 2005.
