SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Cal State San Bernardino's Coyote Radio continues its climb to the top as it was recently recognized by the Web site mtvU.com as one of the top 25 college radio stations in the United States.

Now Coyote Radio has its sights on being named one of the top five college radio stations and ultimately win the prestigious mtvU "Radio Woodie" award, which goes to the best college station in the country as voted by students nationwide. The CSUSB radio station is one of only four finalists from California, along with stations from San Francisco State, USC and Sacramento State, and it is the only completely on-line station remaining in the competition.

The recognition from mtvU is yet another feather in the cap of Coyote Radio, which has already been recognized by iTunes as one of the most popular national college radio stations on its Web site.

mtvU is the official Web site of mtvU network, a channel run by MTV devoted exclusively to music videos popular among college students and music by independent college bands and college culture in general.

To be eligible for the award, a college radio station must offer a diverse, fresh selection of local/"indie" artists to their student body. Coyote Radio recently moved to the all local/indie band format on April 1, 2009.

The mtvU "Radio Woodie" award will be presented at the annual mtvU awards broadcast on MTV live from New York.

To vote for Coyote Radio as the best college radio station in the nation, go to radiowoodie.ratemyprofessors.com. Voters can vote as many times as they like. Votes will be taken until Oct. 26.

Coyote radio can be heard streaming online at coyoteradio.csusb.edu, on iTunes under the "College Radio" tab and during select hours on local TV Channel 3 in San Bernardino.
