Cal State San Bernardino Palm Desert Campus appoints new director of special events

PALM DESERT, Calif. - Cal State San Bernardino's Palm Desert Campus has appointed longtime CSUSB faculty member Heather Hundley as its new director of special events.

Hundley will be responsible for producing the campus's upcoming theater season, which will include a Broadway series, an Indian Wells Pops! series, and a "Conversations with …" series hosted by Patti Gribow.

In addition, she will oversee the redesign of PDC's Web site, will work with faculty and staff to enhance the campus's distance learning program, and will partner with community leaders in fundraising activities for the Palm Desert Campus's annual golf tournament.

Hundley has been teaching communication studies department courses at Cal State San Bernardino for the past 10 years. Specifically, her expertise is in mass media, including media production, media history, and media and culture. Her research interests range from issues of gender and feminism to sports, pop culture and law.

She is published in several scholarly journals, including Communication Reports, Journal of Intergroup Relations, and Visual Communication Quarterly. Currently, Hundley is president-elect of the Western States Communication Association and is in the process of planning the organization's conference in Anchorage, Alaska.
