SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Cal State San Bernardino' s Student Health Center will offer a weight-loss class to help selected students determine what methods work best for weight loss or ways to battle diabetic and obesity-related health illnesses. "Weighing Your Choices" will be held every Wednesday, Oct. 7 and ends Wednesday, Dec. 2 from 4-5:50 p.m. on campus in the Chemical Sciences building, room 122. The class is free but open only to selected CSUSB students. The class, which is also sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, will show ways to help reduce students' Body Mass Index, body weight and blood glucose levels. Two orientation sessions, at 4 p.m. and 5:15 p.m., will be held at the Performing Arts building today, Wednesday, Sept. 30 and will precede the class. Students at the orientation will receive further details as to what the class will involve and the treatment methods that will be utilized in the weight-loss program. Not all students who attend the orientation will participate in the class or program, however. Event coordinators will select students they feel qualify for the weight-loss class or program, and they will only select from the first 300 students who attend. Students who are selected will be enrolled in the regular class, which also consists of two sections, a dyadic course and an online course. Students who are selected will be randomly enrolled into either one. For more information on the class and orientation, call Carlos Carrio at (909) 537-3655. |
