ONTARIO, Calif. - Cal State San Bernardino will host the annual two-day Counselor Conference today, Thursday, and Friday, Oct. 1-2, to inform high school counselors on processes, admission requirements and financial aid opportunities at the California State University system.

The two-day conference will feature a number of workshops and presentations designed to assist high school counselors in preparing students for higher education opportunities in the CSU. All high school counselors are invited to participate.

The conference will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ontario Convention Center, located at 2000 E. Convention Way in Ontario. The cost is $65 to attend; after Sept. 4, the registration increases to $95.

The workshops will be given by representatives from all 23 CSU campuses and members of the CSU Chancellor's Office.

"Despite the economic downturn, the CSU continues to promote accessibility and remain committed to student-focused higher education. We want to forge partnerships with area high school counselors and help California's youth reach their educational goals," said Olivia Rosas, director, CSUSB admissions and student recruitment.

"High school counselors are a fundamental source in connecting students to a variety of opportunities offered by the CSU," said Rosas. Counselors will be able to provide the necessary tools to help students achieve their goals by attending these workshops and presentations, she added.
