Record Gazette (Banning/Beaumont) — The Banning Art Gallery is currently showing paintings by the late Juan Esqueda, a graduate of Cal State San Bernardino.
Esqueda, a native of Douglas, Ariz., who died Nov. 13, 2015, was a prolific artist who created an eclectic body of work that reflected his many experiences home and abroad. He became a well-known painter in the Inland Empire, sharing his artwork as part of the Inland Latino Art Association. After serving in the United States Air Force he became an employee of GTE, a telecommunications company. While working days for GTE, he went to school at night. He graduated from Cal State San Bernardino in 1970 with a BA in fine arts.
The Banning Art Gallery will host the exhibit of 16 pieces and a self-portrait until April 2. There will be a reception on March 25 from 3 to 5 p.m.
