The Sun — Included in Louis Brewster’s “random thoughts” column: “There will always be those who second guess what a head coach, in any sport, will do for the best in a team. Certainly there were many who raised an eyebrow when Cal State San Bernardino volleyball coach Kim Cherniss opted to move returning All-American Malika O’Brien.

“It’s doubtful those folks will raise an eyebrow next time. O’Brien helped lead the Coyotes to the CCAA championship and a semifinal appearance in the NCAA Division II regionals. “She became the 12th Cal State player to win such All-American honors.”

The article was published Dec. 12, 2016, and also appeared in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.
