The Orange County Register — An article about California Gov. Jerry Brown signing an anti-bullying bill into law, and the Orange County Sikh community’s reaction to it, cited a study by Cal State San Bernardino’s Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism, which found that anti-Muslim hate crimes increased 122 percent in California from 2014 to 2015. The article said that since Sept. 11, 2011, Sikhs have been targets of many hate crimes, some deadly, because they are mistaken for Muslims.

The article was published Sept. 29, 2016.
