The Press-Enterprise — All that stood between two Klansmen and angry counter-protesters swinging wooden planks were Brian Levin and his iPhone, capturing it all on video.

Levin, director of Cal State San Bernardino’s Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism, went to Anaheim’s Pearson Park on Saturday, Feb. 27, to conduct research; he’d hoped to ask rallying Klansmen who they support for president and what they think about Adolf Hitler, among other questions.

Instead, he spent three “surreal” minutes caught up in a burst of violence.

The article was published Feb. 28, 2016.
