Various News Media — The report by Cal State San Bernardino’s Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism that showed an increase in anti-Muslim crimes since terrorist attacks in Paris on Nov. 13 and San Bernardino Dec. 2 continues to be cited by news media worldwide.
Brian Levin, director of the center and a CSUSB criminal justice professor, was interviewed by the news site SputnikNews.com, which also included discussion of the public’s perceptions of Muslims.
“I think we have to be very careful about taking a sliver of extremists and painting a whole community of 2.7 million people in a negative light, which should not be done,” Levin said.
