Index for Inland area falls for second month, CSUSB report indicates

The Press-Enterprise — The Inland purchasing manager index, a measure of the local economy based on manufacturing data, fell 2.5 points in September to 44.1, the second month in a row that the indicator has fallen.

Despite the negatives – a PMI below 50 signifies contraction; production and new orders dropped; a third drop in October will confirm a downward trend – Cal State University San Bernardino’s Institute of Applied Research, which gathers the data for the report, said “the sky is not falling.”
