Town hall sessions on Covered California have been scheduled at Cal State San Bernardino to provide information on the health care program and to assist people to enroll in it by the March 31 deadline.
Covered California’s mission is to increase the number of Californians with health insurance, improve the quality of health care for all Californians, reduce health care coverage costs and make sure California’s diverse population has fair and equal access to quality health care.
Covered California is a health insurance “marketplace” where individuals can shop for and enroll in affordable health care coverage. The marketplace was created by the federal Affordable Care Act, sometimes known as “Obamacare.”
scheduled sessions last session will take place: Tuesday, Feb. 18, from noon-2 p.m., Pine Room, Lower Commons; Tuesday, March 4, from 2-4 p.m., Eucalyptus Room, Lower Commons; and
- Thursday, March 13, 4-6 p.m., Pine Room, Lower Commons.
s will include a presentation outline of health insurance options under Covered California under the Affordable Care Act.
That will be followed by time for people to enroll in the program. Enrollment counselors will be available to assist in the process.
To enroll, please bring:
- Proof of income for all family members: W2 forms, most recent pay stubs, 1098-T form showing their financial aid and grant awards;
- Driver’s license;
- Permanent residence card (to verify the alien number) or Certificate of Naturalized Citizenship; and
- Social Security card and date of birth from all family members in the household.
Individuals must enroll by March 31 for health coverage in 2014. After that, the next opportunity to enroll will be between Nov. 15, 2014, and Jan. 15, 2015, for health coverage in 2015.
