The Press-Enterprise — When Cal State San Bernardino’s women’s volleyball Coyotes were struggling to find themselves early in September, as a .500 team going into CCAA play, coach Kim Cherniss couldn’t imagine that they’d be a No. 1 regional seed come December.

The Coyotes eventually took their eighth straight conference championship with a 25-5 overall record (including 21-1 in conference), which is why the eight-team Division II West Regional tournament will be held on Cal State’s campus, beginning Thursday, for the sixth time in seven seasons.
