Senior Lee Nishanian of the men’s soccer team, and senior All-American Chelsey Jones and CCAA Freshman of the Year Kiana Quarles of the women’s soccer team were named to the 2013 Daktronics All-West Region teams, as voted upon by the West Region’s sports information directors.
Jones, who this week earned Capital One Academic All-America honors, was this season’s CCAA Defensive Player of the Year as a first-team goalkeeper. She established four school records as the Coyotes reached the NCAA Round of 16 for the first time in school history.
Her records set this season include shutouts in a season (13), career shutouts (21), victories in a season (12) and career victories (23).
Jones was a first-team all-region choice and advances to the national All-American ballot.
Quarles, who was named to the region’s second team, led the Coyotes in goals with seven and in points (15). She earned second-team All-CCAA honors earlier this month.
Nishanian continued to bring home postseason accolades with the announcement that he was selected to the Daktronics All-West Region men’s soccer team.
Nishanian completed his career with three All-CCAA honors and two Capital One Academic All-District honors at his defender position.
He is a repeat West Region second-team honoree.
Nishanian played in 73 games in his career with 71 starts and was a four-year starter for the Coyotes.
The award is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., and voted on by the region’s sports information personnel.
