CSUSB men’s basketball team gets second win over ranked foe

The Sun — In men’s basketball, significant scoring runs and 3-point shooting were the pivotal factors as the Cal State San Bernardino men’s basketball team took an 85-65 win over No. 19 Midwestern State at the South Point Holiday Classic.

Senior Jordan Burris scored a season-high 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting and a perfect 4 of 4 from the 3-point line. It was the Bakersfield native’s fourth straight double-figure game after missing the first four games of the season due to an injury.

The Coyotes beat No. 5 Western Washington Dec. 21 at the same tournament; though alluded to in the headline, it’s not mentioned in the article.

In women’s basketball, CSUSB was defeated by UC San Diego, 67-55. Trinidee Trice had 13 in the losing effort. Jazzmyn Davis and Tayllor Gipson contributed 10 each.

The article was published Dec. 22, 2013, and also appeared in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.
