Option House Inc., students from the Cal State San Bernardino Sociology Club and the Adult Re-Entry Center and community members will stage a walk-a-thon on Saturday, May 4, to support the fight against domestic violence
Participants will gather at the San Bernardino County Courthouse parking lot near the intersection of North Arrowhead Avenue and Fifth Street at 7:30 a.m.
The walk will start at 8 a.m. and cover a six-mile route from the courthouse up Mountain View and come back down Arrowhead Avenue.
Participants will be asked to carry signs and banners warning against family violence.
Water and refreshments will be provided for participants.
Registration can be completed at the Option House website.
Early registration is $20, while registration on-site will be $25. Participants will receive a bracelet to show their participation and support.
This year, organizers are asking supporters to bring donations to fill a Goodwill van that supports the “Walk Away from Domestic Violence” program.
Option House Inc. provides shelter and support for victims of domestic violence and their families.
Programs and facilities include shelter, training, a 24-hour hotline, courthouse assistance and support for families who are trying to end the cycle of violence.
Community members are welcome to get involved and volunteer.
