The Desert Sun — The Coachella Valley was way ahead of the curve in addressing mental health, the executive director of a national behavioral health group said Friday at a local summit.
“Your community came together to work on this, which is a very important step of being able to move ahead and actually make a difference in these various areas,” said Ron Manderscheid, executive director of the National Association of County Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Directors.
His comments came during the final meeting of a three-part summit funded by the Riverside County Department of Mental Health and organized by the Coachella Valley Health Collaborative at Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert Campus. The first summit was in March 2012 and the second in October.
