Eqqusearch launched two boats and an underwater sonar system into a City Park Bayou this morning, and will move on to other bodies of water in the area through the day. When the California native learned of the “teachNOLA” program, which sends educators to New Orleans to teach in impoverished areas, she packed her bags and headed to Louisiana.
“I always wanted to be a teacher, and what better place to teach than New Orleans, where passionate teachers are needed most?” she said in a 2011 video.
Her dedication and excellence in the classroom earned her a “Teacher of the Year” nomination in her district.

As hundreds of volunteers and police scoured parks and waterways in an area of New Orleans Tuesday, there were many questions but few answers about the disappearance 11 days ago of a 26-year-old teacher.
Terrilynn Monette had been out celebrating a recent nomination for a “Teacher of the Year” award in her district the night she vanished, her friends told CNN affiliate WWL.
New Orleans police said Monette was last seen on March 2 at Parlay’s, a bar in the Lakeview area of New Orleans.

Texas search crews were in New Orleans Wednesday morning to search for missing Harvey school teacher Terrilynn Monette.
Members of Texas Equusearch Mounted Search and Recovery Team were looking in lagoons and bayous around City Park. Crew members said they would be in New Orleans until they could find anything about Monette’s disappearance.

Second-grade teacher Terrilynn Monette was last seen on March 2 after a night of drinking with friends. The 26-year-old was celebrating her nomination as “Teacher of the Year” in her district, CNN reported.
A barkeeper cut off the tipsy Monette, who told friends she was going to sleep it off in her car parked nearby, WGMB reported.

Almost two weeks after she went missing, the search for Terrilynn Monnette continues. The New Orleans Police and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office are looking for the second grade teacher, who disappeared March 2 after a spending a night out with friends at Parlay’s Dream Lounge (870 Harrison Ave) in Lakeview. The nonprofit Equusearch brought increased capabilities to the effort, and began searching City Park lagoons.
The department has concentrated its resources on scouring waterways between the bar and Monette’s apartment — her most likely route of travel — NOPD spokeswoman Hilal Williams said.
