Leadership challenge course opening delayed to March

A challenge center is now under construction near Coussoulis Arena. A grand opening is planned for March.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The grand opening of the leadership challenge center at Cal State San Bernardino has been rescheduled for March because of delays in the permit review process.

A grand opening celebration had originally been planned for Feb. 5, said Mark Oswood, CSUSB recreational sports outdoor programs coordinator, who will oversee the challenge center. The center is being built atop utility poles standing 50 feet high.

When the state-of-the-art center opens, it will be home to the Inland Empire’s first leadership challenge center designed specifically for multiple participants. It will provide a unique team-building and leadership development program for CSUSB student clubs, administrative departments and off-campus organizations from communities throughout the region, Oswood said.

A new grand opening date will be announced in the coming weeks for the center, which will be located north of Coussoulis Arena on campus, Oswood said.
