Coyotes rank 6th in NCAA West Region poll

     

Cal State San Bernardino is ranked sixth in the season’s first NCAA West Region men’s basketball poll, the organization announced Wednesday.

CSUSB basketball logoThe Coyotes, who are 15-6 overall and 13-5 in the CCAA, are gunning for their first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2009-10 season and their eighth under head coach Jeff Oliver.

Defending NCAA champion Western Washington is in first, followed by Cal Poly Pomona, Seattle Pacific, Dixie State and Grand Canyon.

Chaminade is seventh, followed by Alaska-Anchorage, San Francisco State and Chico State.

The NCAA will announce two more polls during the regular season (Feb. 27 and March 6) and the tournament field will be announced March 10. The top eight teams in the final regional poll advance to the NCAA Tournament.

The Coyotes are at home this weekend when they take on Cal State Monterey Bay (Friday) and Cal State East Bay (Saturday).
