Coyotes finish third at Coyote Classic

     

Sophomore Shearn Chua fired a 6-over 216 total to lead Cal State San Bernardino’s men’s golf team to third place in the season opener, Coyote Classic golf tournament at Arrowhead Country Club.

CSUSB-GolfChua tied for seventh, eight shots behind medalist Bobby Holden of Redlands. Chua had rounds of 74-70-72 at the par-70, 6,525-yard course on San Bernardino’s north side.

Michael Timpson (69-74-75) and Matt Daniels (70-77-71) each tied for ninth at 8-over 218. Senior Kevin Bateman tied for 39th (70-81-76) and Taylor Hood 53rd (75-79-77).

Cal State Stanislaus won the event at 864. Fellow CCAA member Cal State Monterey Bay was second (872).

Holden won the event at 2-under 208. His rounds were 72-68-68. Paul Smith of Cal State Stanislaus and Kenny You of Dixie State were four shots back.

The Coyotes are off until next week when they play at Cal State East Bay.
