Coyotes junior Brian Goinshas been named the Wilson/California Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 4-10.
The Concord native guided the Coyotes to a 1-1 weekend with a 93-68 win against Humboldt State and an 80-69 loss to No. 4-ranked Cal Poly Pomona Broncos.
Goins averaged 21 points a game, shooting 7-for-13 from the floor that included sinking 7-of-11 attempts from the arch. He also hit five-of-six from the free throw line.
He made his first seven field goal attempts en route to a 28-point effort in the Coyotes’ victory over the Lumberjacks on Saturday night.
The junior guard also added six rebounds, three assists, and a block to his weekend performance.
It is his first conference honor and he joins teammate Kwame Alexander, who earned the honor for his efforts Jan. 14-20.
The Coyotes return to the road for the final time this season when they play at Chico State (Friday) and Cal State Stanislaus (Saturday). The Coyotes (15-4 overall, 13-3 CCAA) have won all nine of their road CCAA contests.
