What’s behind the rising cost of a college education?

The Sun — Jay Prag, a professor at the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito School of Management at Claremont The Sun (San Bernardino County)Graduate University, argues in an opinion piece that the rising cost of public higher education, including tuition in the California State University system, reflects the reduction of state budget support, and not necessarily an increase in its actual cost.

He wrote, “And the reality behind a lot of the ‘rising cost of a college education’ is that the customer is simply seeing what this product actually costs all along.”

The article, published Sept. 29, 2012, also appeared in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.
