The Press-Enterprise — More than 1,000 San Bernardino and Riverside students and teachers learned about the history of California’s Native Americans at the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians’ 14th annual California Indian Cultural Awareness Conference in September.
This weeklong conference from Sept. 24 to 30 at Cal State San Bernardino was a commemoration of California Native American Day. Falling on the fourth Friday of September, California Native American Day honors California’s indigenous people, an opportunity for all Californians to learn about Native American culture, and a time for people of all cultures to reflect on and remember their traditions.
