ECADF Ethiopian News — Alemayehu G. Mariam, a Cal State San Bernardino political science professor, wrote an opinion piece on the state of Ethiopia’s government following the death of its prime minister, Meles Zenawi, who died Aug. 20.
Mariam wrote: “Two days ago, the leaders of the ruling EPDRF party approved Hailemariam Desalegn, the current deputy prime minister [DPM], to replace the late Meles Zenawi as party chief and prime minister. But Hailemariam will not be sworn in until early October, according to Bereket Simon. No explanation was given for the two-week delay.”
