Curodeau was selected for his high scholarly achievement and because of his family’s contribution to the military service of the United States. His father, Paul Curodeau, is a Vietnam War veteran, having served as a U.S. Navy medical corpsman assigned to the 2nd U.S. Marine Division during that conflict.

Curodeau’s goal is to become an elementary school teacher.

The award was presented to Curodeau by VFW Post 10149 Cmdr. Hal Bresnan, accompanied by 10149 Post Trustee Carl Brown and CSUSB Palm Desert Campus Dean Fred Jandt and Associate Dean Doris Wilson.

VFW Post 10149 is establishing a $5,000 scholarship fund that will award an annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to CSUSB Palm Desert Campus students who are either veterans who served in foreign conflicts or are children of veterans who served in foreign conflicts.
