The Sun — Cal State San Bernardino criminal justice professor Stephen Tibbetts is quoted in article about the number of homicides in the city of San Bernardino this year. Two-thirds through 2012, the city has surpassed last year’s total number of homicides, according to police and FBI data.
With two shootings and three dead on Thursday, the homicide toll rose to 33 in San Bernardino, a number that police say is too high and which has alarmed leaders in a city already reeling from the toll of a bankruptcy filing and the uncertainty it has spurred within the police department’s ranks.
The article, published Aug. 24, 2012, also appeared in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin and Redlands Daily Facts.
