Paula Priamos and Chad Sweeney, both English department faculty at Cal State San Bernardino, will read from their works at Barnes & Noble in Redlands on Saturday, Aug. 4, at 5 p.m.
“The Shyster’s Daughter” is the first book for Priamos, an adjunct faculty member at CSUSB. The book is part coming of age tale, part detective noir, and traces her relationship with her father, a Greek immigrant and attorney.
After his mysterious death, Priamos began her own investigations. To her shock, she discovers that her father –– the very man who defended suspected murderers, rapists, high-level drug dealers, and white collar criminals –– had become a criminal himself.
Priamos has been published in Los Angeles Times magazine, The New York Times Magazine and the Washington Post, among other national publications.
Chad Sweeney’s newest book of poetry, “Parable of Hide and Seek,” is a Foreword Book of the Year Award finalist.
Sweeney’s new work delights in the ordinary. In this surreal exposé of the human condition, he transforms intangible space into a poetic playground.
Sweeney is a poet and translator. He is the author of four books of poetry and teaches poetry in the master’s in fine arts in creative writing program at CSUSB.
Priamos and Sweeney will be reading from their new works, followed by a book signing session. Their presentation will be preceded by readings from several CSUSB students from their original works.
