Our Voice: Bad time for a raise for college presidents


The Desert Sun — In an editorial, the newspaper wrote about the recent decision by California State University trustees to The Desert Sunincrease the pay of new university presidents — including Tomas D. Morales at Cal State San Bernardino — by 10 percent over their predecessors. (The increase is to be funded by university foundations, not the state budget.)

Setting the decision against rising student tuition and the California Faculty Association reaching a tentative agreement with the CSU to forgo raises for the next few years, the newspaper wrote that “it is a terrible time to raise the pay of university presidents.”
