Cal State San Bernardino will host an open house for the grand opening of its new Graduate Writing Center on Thursday, May 10, in the College of Education Building, room 311.
The open house is to introduce the campus community to the services offered by the Graduate Writing Center. Staffed by five graduate students, the consultants offer guidance in locating resources, as well as identifying credible versus non-credible sources.
“Because writing consultants write with, never for writers, one of the major things we do is help writers think through whatever they are working on: essays, proposals, reports, creative pieces, etc.,” said Maggie Cecil, interim director of the center.
The center, which was made possible through funding from the Student Success Fee initiative, officially opened last February and has already served more than 230 students. It will also offer a series of quarterly workshops facilitated by the writing consultants, who will cover topics such as understanding assignments, incorporating comments and avoiding plagiarism.
