Given only a blank canvas with no limitations, Inland Empire university students conquered the task of expressing the dynamic relationship between advertising and creativity.
Their artwork will be showcased at the American Advertising Federation’s second annual Art Bash hosted at Cal State San Bernardino’s Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art on Friday, May 11, from 6-9 p.m.
The night will feature a silent auction where attendees may bid on the student artwork.
Auction proceeds will help support the Inland Empire chapter of the American Advertising Federation’s $1,000 Academic Achievement scholarship and the artists.
“We’re expecting a fun night filled with wonderful student artwork and socializing,” said Jacob Poore, CSUSB ACM marketing coordinator and vice president of the AAF-IE. “We sincerely appreciate RAFFMA hosting the event this year, and all the student artists taking the time to create a piece.”
“It was grand,” said CSUSB art student Nicklaus Navarro in describing last year’s Art Bash. “Overall it was a great event with many interesting people to talk with. Connections were made and in the end it paved the path for this year, which will be four times the size.”
Navarro also had the pleasure of walking away that night with the achievement of creating the highest-priced selling piece.
“I was nervous, because I generally create sculptures, and in this case I had to create a piece with the canvas and it had to be hung on a wall. I have to admit, I was intimidated,” said Navarro.
“Knowing that I beat out others who worked in that field and media made me feel great and inspired me to explore other mediums in art and ultimately changed my art path,” he continued.
This year, more than 70 canvases were distributed throughout the Inland Empire.
Those interested in viewing the artwork and the potential addition to their living room wall may pre-register for the event at the Art Bash website.
Event registration is $5 for students; AAF-IE and RAFFMA member pricing is $10, and the price for general public is $15, which includes parking (Lot L). Visit the Art Bash website for more information on the event.
